The Party for Socialism and Liberation - Tampa Bay

The Party for Socialism and Liberation - Tampa Bay Tampa Bay branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation Disguised under the label of a free market economy, U.S. There is no "third way." Join us!

The Party for Socialism and Liberation is a working class party of leaders and activists from many different struggles, founded to promote the movement for revolutionary change. Capitalism—the system in which all wealth and power is held by a tiny group of billionaires and their state—is the source of the main problems confronting humanity today: imperialist war, poverty, exploitation, layoffs, unemployment, racism, sexism, lesbian/gay/bi/trans oppression, environmental destruction, mass imprisonment, union busting, and more. capitalism has evolved into the most highly centralized form of state monopoly capitalism. The banks, the concentrated media monopolies, the transnational corporations—especially the oil and energy conglomerates—and the Pentagon have merged into a permanent warfare state. There is only one solution to the crisis posed by state monopoly capitalism: socialism. To secure lasting peace and justice requires abolishing the dictatorship of the super-rich and their warfare state. We stand for the socialist reorganization of society. Illusions about a "kinder, gentler" capitalism are just that—illusions. The idea that the bosses and the capitalist state's grip on society can be abolished through any means other than a revolutionary overturn is utopian fantasy. We need a revolutionary party. We are fighting for socialism, a system where the wealth of society belongs to those who produce it, the working class, and is used in a planned and sustainable way for the benefit of all. In place of greed, domination and exploitation, we stand for solidarity, friendship and cooperation between all peoples. Our party brings together leaders and organizers from the many struggles taking place across the country. The most crucial requirement for membership is the dedication to undertake this most important and most necessary of all tasks — building a new revolutionary workers party in the heart of world imperialism.

🌟 RESCHEDULED: REVOLUTIONARY YOGA PRACTICE

Join PSL on Saturday, September 12th at 10:15 AM at Riverhills Park for an all-levels, decolonized power and restoration yoga class with Namaste Nadia.

Before we begin, we will learn about the revolutionary legacy of Ericka Huggins, former Black Panther Party leader. Huggins worked for 15 years at the Siddha Yoga Prison Project where she led Hatha yoga and meditation to groups including incarcerated people, public school children, and college students.

Nadia Askar is a Palestinian activist from New Jersey, and as one of the creators and co-hosts of WTF is Nirvana, her goal is to use honest dialogue and cultural critique to explore what it means to seek peace in an unjust world. She combines her studies as a yoga teacher, a practice that is not only personal, but also political, and her teachings, to make sense of the social justice we should all be contributing to necessary for a better world. Nadia has completed trauma-informed yoga trainings and regularly teaches donation-based classes to raise funds for different humanitarian projects.

Come ground yourself, restore, and build community as we carry the principles of Black August year round.

Group Study on Caribbean Resistance and the Movement for Black Liberation 💪📚

Last weekend, we had members of our community join us for a study and discussion on how Caribbean liberations struggles have been part of the global movement for Black liberation, and how continuing the Black liberation struggle must mean fighting to end imperialism and standing with Haitian immigrant communities.

The study session included political grounding, music, and the reading/discussion of an article on the history of black liberation and Pan-Africanism. Keep an eye out for more events hosted in the Manasota area!

🚨 POSTPONED DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS ⛈️

We’re sorry to share that we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our Revolutionary Yoga event due to the incoming thunderstorms. The safety of our community always comes first.

We’re currently working on securing an indoor space so we can still bring this special experience to you. Stay tuned for updates!

DM us if you’re interested in attending or know of an indoor space that could accommodate us. Thank you for your understanding and support!

GROUP STUDY THIS SATURDAY! Join us for a group discussion on the history of Caribbean liberation movements and the link between imperialism and immigration. Last month, the Trump Administration revoked Temporary Protected Status of more than 300,000 Haitians in the United States amidst an increased ICE crackdown. In Florida, which has the highest Haitian population in the country, Black August means we commit to solidarity with our immigrant communities!

The greatest polluter on our planet is imperialism!

Join A Better World is Possible and PSL Tampa Bay at 5:30 PM on Thursday, August 27 at the Selby Library for a free screening of Earth's Greatest Enemy -- a critical documentary by Abby Martin on the U.S. military, the largest threat to people and ecosystems on the earth.

"Exempt from international climate agreements and rarely scrutinized in mainstream reporting, the Pentagon is the world's single largest institutional polluter, spewing carbon, contaminating water, and scarring landscapes across the globe."

From poisoned water to scorched landscapes, the Pentagon operates above accountability while waging endless war. This film pulls back the curtain on an empire that sacrifices both human life and the environment for global dominance.
