Every harvest carries a story. 🌾
In 1920, Black farmers made up about 14% of all growers in the U.S. Today, due to generations of systemic barriers and forced land loss, that number is less than 2%.
Yet, against these massive odds, the legacy of Black agriculturalists remains a powerful cornerstone of our communities. Black farmers have cultivated land, fed families, passed down invaluable knowledge, and preserved traditions for generations.
Their work is often measured in crops and yields, but their true impact reaches much deeper...into our families, our neighborhoods, and the future of a more equitable food system.
When we support Black-led agriculture and urban farming initiatives, we aren't just buying fresh produce. We are actively investing in:
✊🏽 Food sovereignty
🌱 Land retention
💪🏾 Community health
Today, and every day, we’re honoring the resilience, dedication, and deep-rooted legacy of Black farmers whose contributions keep us nourished.
Thank you for the work you do, the knowledge you share, and the future you keep growing.
