🚒 Exciting News from Central County Fire & Rescue! 🚒

Our new Fire Prevention Trailer has officially arrived!

This updated trailer will allow our crews to provide a safer, more modern, and interactive way to teach fire and life safety lessons throughout our community. From practicing home escape plans to learning important smoke alarm and fire prevention tips, this trailer will help make safety education more engaging for students of all ages.

We’re incredibly excited to begin using the trailer during school visits, community events, and public education programs across the district. This investment helps us continue our mission of providing high-quality fire and life safety education for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping bring this project to life. We can’t wait to share it with the community!

As Memorial Day weekend begins, Central County Fire & Rescue encourages everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

Whether you’re grilling, traveling, spending time on the water, or gathering with family and friends, a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe:

* Never leave grills or fire pits unattended
* Keep children and pets away from hot surfaces and open flames
* Always wear a life jacket while boating
* Stay hydrated and take breaks in the heat
* Never drive impaired — plan for a sober ride home
* Slow down and stay alert for increased holiday traffic

Most importantly, let us remember the true meaning of Memorial Day as we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

🚒 A first for St. Charles County!

Central County Fire and Rescue is proud to be the first agency in St. Charles County to put the new ZOLL Zenix® monitor/defibrillator into service on our apparatus — bringing cutting-edge lifesaving technology to the residents we serve. ⚡

So what makes the Zenix a game-changer for our Firefighter Paramedics?

✅ Real-time CPR feedback — coaches our crews on compression rate, depth, and quality during a cardiac arrest

✅ Real-time ventilation feedback — helps us deliver the right breaths at the right rate, not too fast, not too shallow

✅ See-Thru CPR® — lets us read the heart rhythm without stopping compressions, so blood keeps flowing

✅ Smart pediatric mode — automatically adjusts energy levels and alarms the moment pediatric pads are connected, giving our youngest patients tailored care

✅ Large HD touchscreen with nearly every function reachable in three taps or less — built for the chaos of a real call

When seconds count, this technology helps us deliver higher-quality CPR, make confident decisions on scene, and give our patients the best possible chance — whether it’s sudden cardiac arrest, trauma, or a pediatric emergency.

We are leading the way for our community. Protecting lives is the heart of what we do. 🚒

As temperatures rise, older adults are at a higher risk for heat-related illnesses. Taking a few simple steps can make a big difference.

Here’s how to stay safe this summer:

🔹 Stay hydrated – Drink water regularly, even if you’re not thirsty
🔹 Keep cool – Use air conditioning or spend time in cooling centers
🔹 Limit outdoor activity – Especially during peak heat (10 AM – 4 PM)
🔹 Wear lightweight clothing – Light colors and loose-fitting clothes help
🔹 Check medications – Some can affect how the body handles heat
🔹 Check on loved ones and neighbors – A quick call or visit can save a life

Heat-related emergencies can happen quickly, but they are preventable.

Let’s look out for one another and make sure everyone stays safe this summer.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of retired member Keith Hargrove.

Keith dedicated over 40 years to the fire service, beginning his career in 1977 and serving the community with pride as both an Engineer and Building Inspector until his retirement in 2017. His commitment to the job was more than a career, it was a calling and one he carried with humor, compassion and pride.

He will be remembered not only for his service but for the lasting impact he had on those he worked alongside and the community he served.
Please keep Keith’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.

🚗 April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month🚗

Every day, lives are changed in an instant because of distracted driving.
A quick glance at your phone, adjusting the radio, or reaching for something can take your attention off the road—and that’s all it takes.

On average, 9 people a day lose their lives in crashes involving distracted driving.

Help keep our roads safe:
• Put your phone away before you start driving
• Use hands-free features if necessary
• Set your GPS and music before you move
• Stay focused—your attention saves lives

At Central County Fire & Rescue, we see firsthand how quickly things can go wrong. The best way to protect yourself, your passengers, and others is simple:

Stay alert. Stay focused. Stay alive.

🚒 Hydrant Testing in Progress

You may notice your Firefighters out in your neighborhood checking and flowing fire hydrants, this is all part of our routine hydrant testing and maintenance program.

Hydrant testing helps ensure:
• Hydrants are operating properly
• Adequate water flow and pressure for firefighting
• Quick identification of any issues before an emergency

During testing, you might see water flowing into the street or temporary discoloration in your water. This is normal and should clear up quickly. If you notice discoloration, simply run your cold water for a few minutes until it clears.

This work is critical to keeping our community protected and making sure our firefighters have the water they need when it matters most.

We appreciate your patience while we complete this important work.
