We lost a great political activist yesterday. 💔😢

We don’t always have to agree with each other. Even within the same political party. We should however, continue to publicly and privately have a conversation, exercising our first amendment rights. The disagreements should never result in violence and/or physical harm regardless of which side of the “aisle” you stand on.

Senator Melissa Hortman and her husband should still be alive today.

The two children from Annunciation Catholic school, 8-year-old Fletcher Alexander Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Lillian Moyski should still be alive today.

Charlie Kirk should still be alive today.

And many others who have died by the actions of others who didnt like who they were and what they stood for, should have lived out their natural life until God called them home.

Given the targeted shootings of state lawmakers overnight, we are asking the public to not attend today’s planned demonstrations across Minnesota out of an abundance of caution. Our hearts go out to Speaker-Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark’s family and friends. Our hearts especially break and we pray for their two children.

We’ll continue to pray for State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. We hope they quickly recover from their wounds.

The events early this morning are truly tragic and senseless. We may disagree politically, but we are all Minnesotans. This kind of violance should never happen to anyone…anywhere.

We echo Speaker Lisa Demuth’s words:
“I am horrified by the evil attack that took place overnight, and heartbroken beyond words by the loss of Speaker-Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark,” Demuth said. “With the law enforcement response ongoing and details still emerging, I will simply ask all Minnesotans to please lift up in prayer the victims of this horrific attack, as well as the law enforcement personnel still working to apprehend the perpetrator.”
