We've recently expanded the Minnesota Ag Weather Network (MAWN), with three new stations installed in East Central MN to add important coverage in an area where producers have needed more localized environmental data to support day‑to‑day decisions.

Since 2024, we've installed 31 MAWN stations as part of a statewide effort to ensure that every agricultural region has access to real‑time, site‑specific weather and soil information collected within 20 miles.

A new survey from Minnesota State's Southern Agricultural Center of Excellence found that more than 90% of respondents to their latest farm transition survey plan to transfer their farm to the next generation and 70% hope to do so within the next seven years. Yet many say they're still early in the planning process or aren't sure where to begin.

Whether you're planning to bring a family member into the operation, or just starting to think about the future of your farm, support is available. Our Farm Link program and network of Farm Advocates can help connect you with resources and guidance along the way.

We're preparing to aerially manage 19 sites in the southeast Minnesota counties of Fillmore, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona from June 24-July 1 for spongy moth, depending on weather.

A non-toxic, food-grade substance using pheromones to disrupt mating will be applied by low-flying, yellow airplanes. The product is not harmful to humans, animals, birds, or other insects, and will help protect forest health, property values, and the state's tourism industry.
