Be on the lookout for a missing Boxer in White Bear Township. 6 June 2018 at 9:40pm two Boxer dogs (a male and female) fled a vehicle involved in a motor accident near HWY 61 N and Buffalo St. in White Bear Township. The male boxer was found--in the area--the morning of 7 June 2018 unharmed, but the female Boxer was not with him. She is not familiar with the area and is probably afraid, hungry, and/or injured. Most likely she is east of HWY 61 N.

A profile was entered in Lost Dogs MN. If you spot her contact RC Dispatch at 651-767-0640. Thanks

Today Ramsey County Sheriff Office responded to a couple of calls reporting a black bear spotted in Shoreview. Both calls were made by persons responding to a social media posting. We did not receive any calls from anyone actually seeing a bear.

Sheriff Deputies and I conducted area checks, but found no bear. As a precaution the area DNR Conservation Officer and the Area Wildlife Manager were notified.

The best thing to do if you actually see a black bear is to leave it alone and immediately call Ramsey County dispatch at 651-767-0640. Bears are wary of people and will try to move away from you. People can avoid contact with bears by minimizing potential food sources, such as bird feeders, dog/cat food, or unsecured garbage. Here is a link about bears from the MN-DNR website

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources provides information about bears in Minnesota and how to deal with them.

The snow is melting, the temps are rising, and everyone has the urge to get outside this week...including your pets!

When winter is coming to a close and we are getting ready for the warmer weather, many of us look forward to heading outdoors and enjoying some sunshine. With the recent fox incident that occurred in Minneapolis, this report is good info to keep handy. According to MN Department of Health in 2015 there were 8 bats that tested positive for rabies (no coyotes, raccoons, skunks, or foxes). So far in 2016, there were 3 bats that tested positive. MDH does not retain information on the specific cities where infected animals were picked up, but all of the bats that I submitted for testing from the contract cities were negative.

The city of Minneapolis announced Wednesday it caught and euthanized a fox suspected of biting two people near Lake Harriet.
