White Bear Township, Minnesota is located northeast of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. A community of approximately 11,000 residents, White Bear Township is primarily made up of single-family residential housing, large tracts of light industrial areas and small enclaves of commercial development. Its residential neighborhoods are nestled in among the many lakes in the region. A significant

feature of the Township is its culture of preservation. Regional parks and open spaces dominate the landscape. Natural wetlands, floodplains and upland ponds, together with large bodies of open water, contribute to the general idyllic setting of the community. The Township maintains an extensive network of neighborhood parks and trail systems. Included in this network is a regional beach that provides lake access to residents from throughout the area. A multi-use community park features lighted baseball and soccer fields as well as an amphitheater for the arts, which is currently under development. The Township is also home to an historic airport with an unlighted grass runway used by small private aircraft and public safety providers alike. Settled in the 1840's and formally organized in 1858, the people of White Bear Township have maintained a continuity of carefully planned growth while, at the same time, maintaining the natural amenities of the beautiful region they inhabit.

Volunteers Wanted for the 2050 Comprensive Plan Steering Committee

The Town Board of the Town of White Bear, Ramsey County, Minnesota, is accepting applications from Town residents to join its Steering Committee and participate in the 2050 Comprehensive Plan Update. This volunteer position serves on an advisory board to the Town Board and develops the 2050 Comprehensive Plan, which will guide the Town’s current and future development. This is a multi-year process that will begin at the end of June 2026 and continue through 2028. Community members are responsible for attending seven (7) meetings over the next year on the following dates:
- June 24, 2026
- August 26, 2026
- October 14, 2026
- December 9, 2026
- February 17, 2027
- April 14, 2027
- June 16, 2027

Applications are due by June 22, 2026 with a kick-off meeting held on June 24, 2026.

MATTRESS RECYCLING PROGRAM – White Bear Township is partnering with Ramsey/Washington County & Second Chance Recycling to offer free curbside recycling of mattresses, box springs, & metal bed frames on Tuesdays & Thursdays for the month of June. Each household can recycle up to four mattresses. Please note that registration must be completed online at https://www.secondchancerecyclingmn.com/curbside-collection-program/

County Road J/I-35E Interchange

County Road J and all adjacent roads are currently open to traffic. Please use caution while traveling through the area and watch for construction workers and equipment.
Upcoming work:
• May 26, 20th Avenue South will be closed at County Road J, weather permitting.
• Traffic traveling eastbound on County Road J from Centerville Road will have full access to the theater shops and entrance ramp to I-35E south. Eastbound traffic cannot cross the County Road J bridge over I-35E.
• Westbound traffic on County Road J is open from Otter Lake Road to Centerville Road. Westbound traffic will be able to access southbound I-35E.
• Traffic exiting I-35E will be able to go westbound to the theater shops and Centerville Road. Traffic can also go eastbound from the ramp to Otter Lake Road.

The County Road J & I-35E interchange will undergo reconstruction in 2025-2026 to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and improve access. Upgrades include new freeway connections, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and improved stormwater management.
