According to my kids, “everyone” has an e-bike or e-scooter. Here are the fast facts:

If your child is under the age of 12, they CANNOT ride a motorized scooter!

E-scooters are NOT allowed on sidewalks.

Passengers are NOT allowed on e-scooters.

If they are under the age of 18, they MUST wear a helmet while riding an e-scooter!

If your child is under the age of 15, they CANNOT operate an electric bike in MN!

Only e-bikes UNDER 750 watts are allowed on sidewalks or trails.

Please help keep kids and communities safer by following the e-bike laws.

As bicycle season rolls in, Minnesota police are warning riders about new rules for powerful electric bikes.

On Tuesday, I visited EPHS and spoke on a panel about civic engagement with fellow electeds, encouraging students to take part in our legislative process. Afterward I got a mini tour of one of the student service centers with my friend Jenny!

I wasn’t lucky enough to have Cwod as a teacher, but it’s been an honor and a privilege learning alongside him at the Capitol over the last 8 years. He’s been a tremendous asset to our community for decades and his leadership and civic knowledge will be missed at the legislature.

I predict lots of camping and reading in your retirement, Senator Steve Cwodzinski. Well deserved. 👏 Thank you for all your work!

After a decade in the Minnesota Senate, Steve Cwodzinski says students, civics and classroom concerns remain at the center of his work.

And with that, the 2026 legislative session comes to an end.

Certainly the most emotional and challenging year of my tenure so far - and I served during the height of COVID and in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder.

Never once had I considered that I would ever be doing this work without the leadership and guidance of Speaker Melissa Hortman.

I’m certain that she would be proud of the work we did this year and how we stayed strong as a team, doing the most good for the most people, just like she taught us.

Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in power, Madam Speaker. Our work continues.❤️‍🩹💪🏻💙

Republicans didn't want to listen to us last night as we joined Minnesotans in demanding action on gun violence.

Choosing between their annoyance and Minnesota's kids was not a hard decision.

How is the last week of session going, you ask? 🤭

Today, our Senate colleagues will debate a package of proposals to prevent gun violence and reduce harm to victims.

Because of the tied House and our power-sharing agreement, it’s unlikely that the House GOP will allow us to debate and vote on this package. More and more of their members are dodging votes, on the floor and in committee, to avoid being on the record.

Minnesotans deserve better.

I support the Senate DFL in the debate today. I support urgent action to make our kids and communities safer.

"My 11- and 9-year-old daughters were in the church that day, hiding under pews while 116 rounds of gunfire tore through a place that was supposed to be safe," Dan Manchon writes.
