Secretary Simon stopped by St. Louis Park High School to talk to students about registering, voting, and the future of civic engagement in Minnesota.

Today Secretary Simon was excited to join a broad and bipartisan coalition in urging lawmakers to pass legislation that would allow high school-aged students to pre-register to vote in Minnesota.

This bill is about getting good habits started early and making sure young Minnesotans are civically engaged. Thank you to all the students who made your voice heard at the Capitol today.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Steve Simon pushed to make it easier to vote for members of the National Guard: "If someone puts on the uniform of this country, the voter protection and accommodations they get should not depend on whether a governor calls them up or a president calls them up."

Today, Secretary of State Steve Simon and Deputy Secretary of State Ann Kaner-Roth talked about pre-registration for 16 and 17-year-olds and the importance of voting at the Women's Consortium Girls Rock! the Capitol event.

Secretary Simon met with some high school students yesterday from Jewish Community Action who are advocating for pre-registration for 16 and 17-year-olds. Glad to see them working toward getting good habits started early!

Secretary Simon talks early voting, pre-registration for 16 and 17-year-olds, and tells the Crookston Daily Times: "I want to connect with all 87 counties in the state."

Simon has a five-point-plan, which includes expanding the access to voting, removing barriers for voting, modernizing business services, strengthening protection for victims of domestic violence and being a Secretary of State for all Minnesotans.
