Metro Deaf School. Go Cheetahs! Go! Metro Deaf School. At Metro Deaf School, our curriculum is unique.

Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow

Metro Deaf School is a free public charter school for students ages birth-21, who are primarily Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing. We are an urban day school serving the seven-county Twin Cites, Minnesota and western Wisconsin area. We use a bilingual, American Sign Language (ASL) and English, interdisciplinary curriculum. Students are taught the linguistic stru

cture of both languages, and the two languages are equally valued. Research has shown that students who have higher levels of ASL proficiency also have higher levels of English literacy (Strong and Prinz, 1007)

We welcome you to our page, and encourage you to take a look and comment on what you see. We ask that your comments be positive and encouraging to those in the pictures or status updates. To ensure a positive environment, MDS staff reserve the right to remove any comments that do not reflect this kind of environment.

What an amazing 1st and 2nd grade Reading Fair this year! πŸŒŸπŸ“–

Our 1st and 2nd grade students worked hard creating and presenting their tri-fold boards based on books they read. Many of our cheetahs went above and beyond by including creative 3D objects and displays to bring their stories to life!

Thank you to our families, staff, and all the visitors who came to support and celebrate our students' accomplishments. We are so proud of our young readers!
