161 years ago, hundreds of thousands of enslaved people learned they were free.

Despite ongoing attempts to erase Black history, we still rise and celebrate our ancestors' lives, sacrifices, and dreams. May we always sing and praise their stories, never be silenced.

Take time today to reflect, learn, and recommit to the ongoing fight for justice. Black Lives Matter.

We hope you take part in community celebrations happening across our state. Today and every day, support Black businesses, artists, authors, creatives, and musicians.

Melissa and Mark Hortman will forever be two of our better angels as the work continues to bend the arc of history towards liberty and justice for all. 💚
