Ordinances are violations of laws set by the City and aren't always popular, this is likely one of them, but we have started receiving complaints about the use of scooters and bicycles with a motor (gas or electric). Per St. Paul Park Code of Ordinances, section 46-12 : "It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated in the city upon any public property, playground, park, school grounds or boulevard or sidewalk, any motor scooter, go-cart, bicycle, or other conveyance which is propelled by any motor or engine using any type fuel or electrical energy, and which is exempt from licensing by any federal, state or local law."
It is also against ordinance (Section 66-92) to operate ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes and golf carts, in the same locations as listed above.
The only location the methods of transport listed above are legal to operate is on that person's private property, or on the property of another in which permission was received.
This is being posted as we have received complaints about these being ridden in parks, on sidewalks, and on the streets (sometimes in the middle of the street).
