🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from Calhoun County EMS! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy every day. As you gather with family and friends to enjoy cookouts, parades, fireworks, and time together, we hope you have a fun, memorable, and most importantly, safe Independence Day.

Before lighting fireworks, remember:
🎆 Leave fireworks to responsible adults.
🎆 Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
🎆 Never relight a firework that doesn’t ignite.
🎆 Keep children and pets a safe distance away.
🎆 Never operate fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

If you’re traveling:
🚑 Buckle up every passenger.
🚑 Drive sober and avoid distractions.
🚑 Watch for emergency vehicles and move over when it’s safe to do so.

Our crews will be on duty 24/7 throughout the holiday, ready to serve our community whenever we’re needed. We hope our day is quiet because you’re celebrating responsibly.

From all of us at Calhoun County EMS, thank you for your continued trust and support.

Have a safe, happy, and patriotic Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

☀️ HEAT ADVISORY ☀️

Calhoun County EMS

High temperatures and dangerous humidity are expected across our area. Even if the air temperature doesn’t seem extreme, the heat index (“feels like” temperature) can be much higher and increase your risk of heat-related illness. The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerous heat conditions across portions of central South Carolina. (National Weather Service)

Protect Yourself:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—don’t wait until you’re thirsty.

🌳 Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (typically 11:00 AM–6:00 PM).

👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.

🧴 Use sunscreen and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes. Interior vehicle temperatures can become deadly very quickly.

👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

Know the Warning Signs:

Heat Exhaustion

* Heavy sweating
* Weakness or dizziness
* Nausea
* Cool, pale, clammy skin
* Headache

➡️ Move to a cool place, drink water, and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.

Heat Stroke – A Medical Emergency

* Body temperature above 103°F
* Hot, red, or dry skin
* Confusion or altered mental status
* Loss of consciousness
* Seizures

🚑 Call 911 immediately. Heat stroke can become life-threatening within minutes.

From Your EMS Professionals:

Our crews are prepared to respond, but prevention is the best medicine. Take the heat seriously, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.

Stay Cool. Stay Hydrated. Stay Safe.
