The City of St. Martinville has scheduled a major upgrade and repair at our electrical substation. To keep our workers safe and get the job done right, power will be turned off this Thursday night from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. We know an overnight outage asks something of you, and we thank you for your patience.

This is critical work. Our team will install three new gang switches, replace aging insulators, and add new animal guards that shield the equipment from the critters who too often cause unexpected outages. These are the first improvements to this equipment since 2025, and they protect the systems that power our homes, our businesses, and our neighbors all across town.

We are always working to build a stronger, more reliable St. Martinville for every corner of our community. A few quiet hours overnight mean fewer surprises down the road. If you have questions, City Hall is here for you at 337-394-2233.

Merci beaucoup for your understanding, St. Martinville.

Summer is almost here, and the water is calling. Learning to swim is one of those skills a child carries for life. It builds confidence, keeps them safe, and turns hot Louisiana afternoons into some of the best memories of the season.

This year, swimming lessons return to the Edna Landry Aquatic Park for children ages 5 to 13. Classes are small, hands on, and led by one instructor, so every child gets the attention they need to grow comfortable in the water. Spots tend to fill quickly, so families are encouraged to register early.

Grab a registration form, pick your session, and let’s make this a summer to remember. To sign up or ask questions, call 337-394-2233, email [email protected], or stop by 501 S. Theater Street.

Staying connected has always been part of life in St. Martinville, whether it’s neighbors catching up along Bayou Teche or families gathering after church. That same spirit is reaching into how we live, work, and learn every day. Better, more reliable internet is expanding across more of our homes and businesses, opening new doors for our students, our small business owners, and everyone who calls this city home. We’re proud to see St. Martinville growing stronger and more connected, and we’ll keep you posted as more progress rolls in. Take a look below for what’s here now and what’s coming soon.

Adventure has a new home on the Bayou Teche. We were proud to join Wanderlust Rentals this week to celebrate the grand opening of their new self-service kayak station, right here along our beloved bayou. With a simple scan of the ShareKayak app, residents and visitors can now unlock a kayak, grab a paddle, and set out on the water whenever the spirit moves them.

A heartfelt thank you to the Wanderlust team for choosing St. Martinville, and to everyone who came out to share in the celebration. From the youngest hands on the ribbon-cutting scissors to the longtime neighbors who watched it all come together, this is exactly the kind of moment that makes our community special. The Teche has always been at the heart of who we are, and now there’s one more way to enjoy it.

So come on down, push off from the bank, and let the good times roll. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
