On April 3, 2024, at 03:48 hours, the Evangeline Volunteer Fire Department of Saint Martinville responded to a reported structural fire located on the 400 block of East Bridge Street. The residence was unoccupied, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The origin of the fire is currently being investigated. We would like to thank the following departments for their assistance; Parks Volunteer Fire Department, Broussard Fire Department, Catahoula Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Coteau Holmes Vol. Fire Dept, and Breaux Bridge Volunteer Fire Dept.

If you are interested in making a lasting impact on your community, come join your local volunteer fire department. Saint Martinville's Evangeline Volunteer Fire Department has openings available. We are a 100% volunteer department that has been serving the city of Saint Martinville since 1890. No prior experience or training required. All training is provided and free.

Requirements: must be 18 years of age and able to pass a background check.

We also offer a Junior Firefighter program for 16 and 17 year olds.

Come join us for our weekly training for more information. Mondays at 6:00p.m. located at 230 Washington Street Saint Martinville, La.
