The Newport Hunt Area at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge will now require hunters to obtain their permits through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission prior to participating in hunts. A limited number of permits will be issued, and all applicable State and Refuge regulations apply. Please visit FWCโ€™s website for application details and deadlines.

Join Ranger Alex for a fun-filled morning of saltwater fishing!

Meet at the lighthouse at 8:00 AM, then walk with Ranger Alex to the end of Lighthouse Point to fish. Fishing poles will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own.

Please bring water shoes, a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and water/snacks.

As a reminder the St. Marks NWR/FWC mentored youth turkey hunt is taking place on the Port Leon unit this weekend until 1 pm Sunday April 19, 2026. That area will be closed to the public during that time, so if youโ€™re planning on hiking please choose one of our other numerous trails on our 88,000 acres and remember to recreate responsibly.
