TENSAS PARISH IS STILL UNDER A BURN BAN!!!
A notification alert has been sent out to all cell phones in and around the parish by the Office of Emergency Preparedness. This will help get the word out to more people. Conditions are worsening every day, with no rainfall in sight. This burn ban does not affect agriculture burns or prescribed burns that has a state certified burn person on scene while burning.

BURN BAN

TENSAS PARISH is currently under a parish wide burn ban. The rainfall we had recently was not enough to lift the ban. This ban is being enforced with tickets. Please share this post so everyone knows. I will update as conditions change.

Burn Ban is still in effect!!! As of 9:30 this morning the Louisiana Dept. of Ag & Forestry still has Tensas Parish in the High Fire Danger. The rain we received over the weekend is nowhere close to enough rain to end the burn ban. We can reevaluate once we receive more rain.

Tensas Parish Police Jury President, Terrence South has issued a Emergency Proclamation for a parish wide burn ban starting at 5:00 PM, on August 20th, 2026 until conditions are safe again. The ban will be enforced according to HB 1153 Act 931. Fines will be imposed to those that burn. This ban does not affect the agriculture burning practice. See attachments below regarding the rules and fines.

Conditions are very dry so please do not burn. We are not under a burn ban as of now but I do foresee one in place in the near future. We have already run more calls in 8 months than we normally do in a year! Our resources are spread thin and we’re doing the best we can. So let’s all do our part and keep Tensas safe by not burning until we get sufficient rainfall.

Tensas Fire District #1 is saddened to hear of the loss of Jeff Britt. He was a true servant as a Sheriff and a firefighter. Sending prayers for his family.

Service for Eula’s Foster The funeral is Monday. Everything will be at Legion Memorial Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10:00. Funeral at 11. If you are unable to attend our feelings will not he hurt. Just pray a little extra prayer at the time.

Tensas Fire lost a good man, and a good firefighter, Eulas Foster (FD-22). Eulas was very dedicated to the fire service for over 25 years. Please keep his family and his fire department family in your prayers as we mourn the loss of good man. I will update when the arrangements are made. Rest easy FD-22, We will see you at the top.

Here at Tensas Fire we have been hard at work evaluating ourselves to see how we can better serve our parish and make it a safer place. Soon we will have a few Public Education Programs rolling out.
1. Residential Fire Safety Program: Upon request we will come to your home and give recommendations to any fire hazards that we may find.
2. We will have a program for our businesses also.
3. We are still installing smoke alarms.
I'm looking forward to helping Tensas become a safer place to live.
