Star Academy students are very excited this year as they are hands-on with learning about Reactions, Heat and Energy, Weather and so much more! Ms. Lee's 7th and 8th grade students are able to complete various experiments such as one that separates the elements in water using the process of electrolysis, making toothpaste with sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate using cinnamon and peppermint extract for flavor, and making a cloud chamber to observe condensation. Students enjoyed themselves as they were able to work on these experiments and look forward to many more to come!

This morning, Superintendent Russ traded her desk at the central office for a seat on Ms. Lillie B. Lewis’ school bus and enjoyed the ride alongside some of our students! 🚌🎒📚

We’re shouting out Superintendent Russ for being a HANDS-ON, VISIBLE LEADER who isn’t afraid to get out there and experience the school day from our students’ perspective.

🎉 CELEBRATING PERFECT ATTENDANCE IN TENSAS PARISH! 🎉

For the second year in a row, the Tensas Parish School Board is excited to recognize and reward our students who achieve PERFECT ATTENDANCE! 🏆📚

Each month, **10 students—5 at each school—**who maintain perfect attendance will receive a $10 cash award as a special way of celebrating their commitment to showing up, staying engaged, and making every school day count! 💵👏🏾

Leading by example, Superintendent Joyce Russ kicked off this year’s Perfect Attendance initiative with a generous $100 donation! ❤️

🏀 INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LADY PANTHERS 🐾💙

Today, our young ladies had the opportunity to hear from Faye Minor, a Natchez native with a strong background in basketball, coaching, and youth development.

Ms. Minor shared her experiences in basketball and, more importantly, spoke to our girls about discipline, hard work, confidence, education, making good decisions, and believing in themselves.

Her message reminded our student-athletes that where you come from does not determine how far you can go. Opportunities are created through preparation, commitment, and the willingness to keep working when things get difficult.

Ms. Minor has continued giving back to young people through coaching and community recreation in the Natchez area, demonstrating that athletics can become a platform for leadership and service.

We sincerely thank Ms. Faye Minor for taking the time to pour into our girls and share her knowledge and experiences. Having successful women speak directly to our young ladies allows them to see what is possible for their own futures.

At Tensas High School, we are working to build more than athletes — we are building confident young women, leaders, students, and future professionals.
