We are soon coming to the end of a months-long campaign of ensuring that no voter goes without the opportunity to learn about the May 6 bond proposal. An incredible amount of time has been given by so many people to make sure that this process was as transparent as possible.

It all started last year with a 35-member district steering committee made up of community members from all backgrounds (and perspectives) who took months to come up with this proposal based on the needs of our district. Between a scientific survey and community forums, feedback was received throughout the steering committee process.

That process led to everything you see below. A coordinated and transparent communication campaign that worked to reach every voter in some way, and provide multiple opportunities for questions to be asked and conversations to take place.

We hope we've earned the trust of our community that this bond IS what our district needs. We hope you've enjoyed following us on this journey. Thank you to everyone who was a part of it.

Former SJPS teacher and administrator Anne-Marie Potter shares her unique perspective in the letter of support below. Thank you, Anne-Marie, for sharing your thoughts related to always striving to do what's best for our district, even in times of needing to make tough decisions.

This bond proposal will provide needed investments in all of our schools, but especially our elementary schools, so they can continue to operate well into the future and provide our students with an exceptional educational experience.

We are excited to hear words of support from Chris Houghton, a 2006 SJPS alumnus, and co-creator of Disney's popular series Big City Greens. Thank you for your words of support, Chris, and your mention of the educators who have had a lasting impact on you!

Chris (and his brother and Big City Greens co-creator and 2004 SJPS graduate, Shane) visited St. Johns Public Schools in 2019, which was supported by the district’s Foundation for Excellence. You can read more about the brothers and their experiences at St. Johns Public Schools at https://www.sjsffe.org/spotlight/houghton.

Ted Halitsky is a strong supporter of the bond proposal who has continually sought out information to ensure he (and our entire community) is educated about what this bond proposal will do for our district. As a 1966 alumnus, he's been in and around for St. Johns for most of his life, and understands the importance of ensuring that our kids have all the opportunities that we can provide them to succeed.

Thank you for your support, Ted!
