For generations, grain elevators were a familiar part of the St. Johns landscape, serving as important hubs for our local agricultural community. These facilities helped support area farmers and reflected the vital role agriculture has played in shaping our city’s history.

While both elevators have since closed, they remain a reminder of St. Johns’ strong farming roots and how our community has evolved over time. Today, many local farmers travel outside the area for feed and agricultural supplies, but the legacy of these landmarks continues to be an important chapter in our story.

Friday is shaping up to be our first truly hot day of the summer!

To help everyone cool off, we're hosting a special Police, Popsicles, and Parks event at the City Park Splash Pad, joined by our friends from the St. Johns Michigan Fire Department

If the weather cooperates, we'll kick things off at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, and stay until the popsicles are gone or we melt in the sun—whichever comes first!

Bring the family, cool off at the splash pad, enjoy a free popsicle, and spend some time with your local police officers and firefighters.

We hope to see you there!
