Inter-Library loans are available to you.

Did you know that during June, July & August, our library loaned out 188 books to 50 different libraries across Kansas? That means books from the Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library are traveling all over the state and helping readers in communities far beyond St. John! We are so proud to have such a great collection that other libraries can borrow from. We truly are sharing the love of reading!

But here's the other side of the story…
We borrow about 22 books every month from other libraries, too!
We don't have to own every book in existence because we have access to an entire statewide network of libraries.

How do those books get from one library to another?
Through the Kansas Library Express! It's a statewide library courier system that transports books and other library materials between participating libraries. And guess what? We provide this service for our patrons!

Did You Know We Have a Used Bookstore?
There’s a little hidden gem downstairs at the library!

Our Used Bookstore is filled with books, movies, puzzles, and more. All at prices that are hard to beat!

And right now, we have a cart featuring some wonderfully old classics and vintage books just waiting for a new home. Some of these books are little pieces of literary history, and they’d make a fun addition to a home library or a great gift for a reader who loves the classics.

There are one new bestseller, four new audiobooks, one new children's book, and nine other new books, including fourteen that are available online.

The new bestseller this week is "Big Little Truths."

Our first Trivia Night of the year was one for the books and what better way to kick things off than with Dolly Parton!

We listened to a LOT of Dolly, learned some surprising things about her incredible life and career, and laughed our way through a night of trivia, friendly competition, and great company.

A huge congratulations to our three winning teams! The 3 "Blondes" took 1st place, The Victorious Secrets in 2nd place, and the Dolly Bills in 3rd place. We were also joined by The Jolene's.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so much fun. We love seeing our library become a place where people can gather, laugh, learn something new, and enjoy being together.

Our next Trivia Night is November 3rd!

MAHJONG IS GOING STRONG AT THE LIBRARY!

Our Mahjong group has been growing, and we’re excited to now have people playing twice a week!

Mahjong is a fun way to challenge your brain, learn something new, and enjoy some great company.

Never played before? No problem! Beginners are welcome, and there are friendly players who are happy to help you learn.

Wednesdays | 9:30–11:30 AM
Thursdays | 3:00–5:00 PM

Whether you’re an experienced player or have never touched a Mahjong tile, there’s a place for you at the table!
