‼️UPDATE‼️
The mystery had been solved! This gentleman had been identified and has reached out to me directly.
No laws were broken, there was a mix up on address due to a turned street sign while he and his wife were trying to check in to a local Air BnB.

Boggess Park

What a fun place this is for our community. From July 4th to snow days.

It’s absolutely pathetic that people have no more respect for the city and its property than this.

From vandalism, littering, destruction of property over the last few days even to the destruction and littering around the basketball courts during the summer, I can’t believe the city continues to put money into it for the utterly disrespectful people.

At this point, I’d vote for closing the park during snow and ice.

Trust me, I’m all for having fun in the snow. I grew up here and that’s why I have tyrnes a blind eye to folks doing donuts on the square or children being pulled behind vehicles on city streets.

However, things have to change. I’ve gotten many complaints about donuts on the square and if you drive across it today you’ll understand as rough as it is.

Bottom line is it’s illegal to litter, vandalize property, destroy city property, or do donuts on the square or any other public street or property.

I have a couple requests…. If you left trash, mattresses, junk, etc at the park, go pick it up and don’t make it the job of city employees.

If you had a part in damaging the fencing, volunteer at City Hall to help repair the damages.

If you vandalized trash cans to have the lids to slide on, you need to see me about making it right.

People will talk and tell me who did what. Thats just how it goes. Don’t let me find out from someone else you were involved.

In closing, let’s make a deal.. going forward, you don’t do donuts on the square and we won’t put you in jail for Reckless Driving.

Lots of cameras around the square.

Chief Johnson.

The Hot Topic amongst your neighbors this month is the real problem with dogs running at large.

All dogs and cats must be vaccinated and then registered with City Hall for the nominal fee of $6. There are many reasons that this is necessary. Surely, I don’t need to explain them here.

No dogs are to be running at large within the City. This has gotten out of control because, as a pet owner myself, I understand that accidents happen.

However, repeated occurrences of your dogs roam freely to dig in trash, run in traffic, chase pedestrians, antagonize other dogs that are legally confined, or just be a nuisance will not be tolerated going forward. Failure to respect your neighbors or the law will result fines, impoundment, and possibly seizure of animals, no matter how much of a blessing you believe your dog is to the neighborhood by running at large.

Please do your part to make our city a safe and enjoyable place to live.

I would like to thank members of the Montague County Sheriff’s Deoartment, the Nocona Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Highway Patrol for their assistance in removing a very dangerous driver from public highways this morning.

At approx. 8:58am, a black Dodge Charger, registered in Louisiana, recklessly passed by the city square at 63mph in a 30mph zone. Attempts were made to catch up to the suspect who continued westbound on Hwy 82 at an extremely dangerous rate of speed, being clocked at one point driving 118mph, his speeds were greater at times. MCSO and Nocona PD assisted in attempting to stop the suspect before he reached Nocona. The violator refused to stop and actually increased speed. As we approached Nocona, all law enforcement officers slowed down as to not push the suspect into an even higher risk situation with traffic in town.
The suspect did not slow much and continued through Nocona without incident thankfully. Clay County Sheriff’s Department and DPS were notified of the situation. Once past Nocona, visual contact with the Charger could not be re-established safely and pursuit efforts were terminated to reduce further risk to officers and public.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Highway Patrol checked the suspect’s speed at 110mph and was able to get the suspect to stop before reaching the city of Henrietta. SJPD and MCSO officers continued to the scene where the driver, a Louisiana resident was taken into custody and subsequently booked in to the Montague County Jail.

Teamwork between multiple departments, in two different counties, took a very dangerous and reckless driver off of our roadways without damage to property or injury to anyone.
