Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, the St. James Police Department asks our community to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in service to our nation.

We also extend our gratitude to the families of our fallen heroes and to all who have served.

As you gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, please celebrate safely, watch out for one another, and never drink and drive.

From all of us at the St. James Police Department, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember one of our own.

Officer Jesse W. Embrey III gave his life in the line of duty, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten. Jesse was a veteran, a devoted husband, a loving father, a loyal friend, and a man deeply respected by all who knew him.

His End of Watch was January 15, 2005—but his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of those he served alongside and the community he protected.

Today, we reflect on his life, his service, and the ultimate price he paid.

Gone but never forgotten.

On May 13, 2026, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers with the St. James Police Department responded to an anonymous report of a burglary in progress at a vacant structure located on Rhoda Street.

Upon arrival, officers entered the structure and located a female subject inside. During the investigation, officers discovered several bags near the subject, including one containing copper wiring believed to have been removed from the vacant structure. Officers also located cutting tools and other miscellaneous tools in the immediate area.

A search of the female subject revealed a syringe and glass smoking devices commonly associated with the use of methamphetamine.

After investigation and as a result, Cynthia Hill, 32, of Rolla, Missouri, was arrested and transported to the Phelps County Jail, where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

On May 14, 2026, the Phelps County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for Hill in connection with this incident.

Hill has been charged with:

One (1) Count – Burglary 2nd degree – Class D Felony

A $25,000 bond was set by the courts.

The St. James Police Department remains committed to protecting properties and holding individuals accountable for criminal activity within our community. We appreciate the continued support and cooperation of our citizens in reporting suspicious activities.

Legal Disclaimer: The charges for which the above-mentioned suspect was arrested are merely accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
