Downtown St. Ignace Welcome to Downtown St. Ignace, Michigan! Official page of the St. Ignace Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The St. in the City Council Chambers.

Ignace Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was created in 1981 through an ordinance passed by the City Council. The City Council recognized a need to halt property value deterioration and to promote economic growth. The Ordinance outlines the legal description of the DDA District. Since the creation of the DDA, the downtown area has seen many development projects including the Huron Boardwalk, a

major streetscape project, the development of three downtown waterfront parks, and the purchase of the railroad property which led to City's construction of the Little Bear East Arena. There have been many improvements to the Museum of Ojibwa Culture and grounds area, and two major partnerships with private investors to fill anchor stores in the DDA District. DDA Board meetings are held the 2nd Friday of each month at 8:00 a.m. The DDA's bylaws can be viewed here. The DDA is governed by a 9-member Board, including the Mayor who is a statutory member. The other members of the board are appointed by the Mayor with approval by the City Council. Each Board member holds a 4-year term.

FIRST DRONE SHOW OF THE SEASON IS TONIGHT !
🚙🔥 Jeep the Mac 2026 is rolling into St. Ignace today & Saturday! 🔥🚙
We’re excited to welcome 452 Jeeps to our community—let’s show them a true Yooper welcome! 🙌
📍 Friday, Event Schedule:
• 7:30 AM – Packet pickup begins at Little Bear Arena (for pre-registered participants)
• 10:00 AM – Jeeps depart, turning right onto Main Street and heading to cross the Bridge
• Throughout the day – Participants will take part in a fun photo scavenger hunt around the area 📸
• 5:00–8:00 PM – Meet & Greet back at Little Bear Arena

• 9:30 PM – 🌟 First Drone Show of the Year!

Construction on the new splash pad at Chief Wawatam Park will be beginning this week!

The existing splash pad will be removed and replaced with a brand new, upgraded facility as part of this improvement project. Please be advised that access to certain areas of the park may be restricted during construction for safety.
