The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for heavy rainfall across South-Central Texas Monday through Tuesday (June 15–16).

An approaching cold front combined with tropical moisture may lead to periods of heavy rain and localized flooding, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas.

Forecast details, rainfall amounts, and the locations most likely to experience flooding are still being refined. Now is a good time to review your plans and stay weather aware.

Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Never drive through flooded roadways.

We’ll continue to monitor the forecast and share updates as they become available.

⚠️ NEW WORLD SCREWWORM ALERT ⚠️

Protect Your Pets, Livestock & Animals

The New World Screwworm (NWS) is a dangerous flesh-eating parasite that has recently been detected in Texas. Unlike common maggots that feed on dead tissue, New World Screwworm larvae feed on living tissue, causing painful wounds that can become life-threatening if left untreated.

On Sunday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m., a deputy with the Saint Hedwig Marshal’s Office observed a black Cadillac ATS traveling eastbound in the 12000 block of FM 1346 and initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation.

The deputy identified the driver as 22-year-old Goel Navarro. During the investigation, the deputy determined Navarro was operating the vehicle with an invalid driver’s license. Navarro was accompanied by a 34-year-old female passenger.

While speaking with the occupants, the deputy detected a moderate odor of burnt ma*****na emanating from the vehicle. Based on probable cause, a search of the vehicle was conducted.

During the search, the deputy located drug paraphernalia and a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Navarro was arrested and transported to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1. The female passenger was not charged and was released at the scene.

🚗☀️ Summer travel season is here!

Before you hit the road, take a moment to secure loose items inside your vehicle. In a crash, everyday objects like water bottles, purses, laptops, tools, and even coffee mugs can become dangerous projectiles, putting you and your passengers at risk of serious injury.

✅ Store loose items in the trunk or cargo area
✅ Keep the dashboard and seats clear
✅ Use organizers or storage bins when possible
✅ Buckle up—every seat, every trip

A few seconds spent securing your belongings can make a big difference when it matters most.

Safe travels from the Saint Hedwig Marshal’s Office.
