Phase 1 of the SR-7 Trail (from I-15 to Desert Canyons) is underway! If you travel through the Desert Color area, here is what you need to know:

Where: Black Mountain Drive on/off ramps.

What: Expect changing traffic patterns while crews install a new pedestrian underpass.

The exit will remain open during construction! Crews are building the underpass one half at a time so traffic can keep flowing.

Please slow down, stay alert and follow all signs!

This was a great moment.

The City held its first Be Brighter Years of Service Recognition event this morning. We invited all City employees and hundreds turned out as we honored those with 5 or more years of service.

When it comes to service time, two stand out the most.

Can you believe we have two employees who have worked for the City for more than 40 years?

Terri Mickelson has been in our Finance Department and Utility Billing Division since 1984! 👏

Robert Stoker, our Fire Chief, has been with our Fire Department since 1985 — and Chief since 1998! 👏

That's 83 years combined.

Wow!

Mayor Hughes and the St. George City Council recently proclaimed July 2026 as Parks and Recreation Month!

Our parks, trails, pools, programs and natural spaces do so much more than provide places to play — they support health and wellness, strengthen childhood development, boost the local economy, protect our environment and help keep our community resilient for the future.

This July, we celebrate the places and programs that bring our community together and make St. George an even better place to live, work and play.

Thank you to the dedicated parks and recreation staff, volunteers and community partners who help make it all possible.

Can you believe we are 12 days away from America's semiquincentennial? Most of us probably hadn't heard that word before this year, but it means that we are celebrating our 250th anniversary as a country.

Events themed around America 250 have taken place in the City of St. George and in communities across the USA. We kicked off our efforts by planting 250 trees at Little Valley Park back in April. We have many other events coming up soon:

July 2: Revolutionary War Patriots Plaque Unveiling, 8 a.m. at City Hall Plaza
July 4: Uncle Sam 4K, 6:30 a.m. (four kilometers is actually 2.50 miles. Look at that!)
July 4: 4th of July Parade, 8:30 a.m. in downtown St. George
July 4: Fireworks above Greater Zion Stadium, 10 p.m.
July 13: Concert in the Park: Rebel Jazz Band, 7 p.m. at Vernon Worthen Park
Sept. 19: Dixie Days Festival (kids activities) at Vernon Worthen Park

It's a year-long celebration and we want you to be a part of it! For more info on specific events, as always, go to our website: sgcityutah.gov.
