This is a picture of the TBF Avenger that will be visiting our museum on Friday April 24th. The plane is from the Rocky Mountain Wing of the CAF. They are doing an honor flight for a WWII veteran who served as a radio man on this type of plane. After the honor flight rides can be arranged with the CAF.
The Avenger was the heaviest single-engine aircraft of WWII, used as a torpedo bomber and for anti-submarine warfare. The Avenger’s combat debut arrived at the pivotal Battle of Midway during the first week of June 1942, literally days after the type became operational.

Today's museum work. The two Carls and helpers worked to refit the rear canopy on our 1955 MiG-15UTI after the seal was replaced. Interesting fact. If the canopy seals are damaged or improperly installed, the aircraft has no BRAKES! Both work off of the same nitrogen system! Funky! At this point, the aircraft is ready to fly again!

We are on their schedule again this year. In the fall, the B-17 & C-47 should be here in Utah!
