🚩 RED FLAG WARNING 🚩

Critical fire weather conditions are expected across Southern Utah, and a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Washington County from 11 am Saturday May 16th until 9pm Sunday May 17th

Strong winds, low humidity, warm temperatures, and dry fuels can allow fires to start easily and spread rapidly.

Please use extreme caution:
🔥 Avoid outdoor burning
🔥 Never leave campfires unattended
🔥 Secure trailer chains
🔥 Avoid parking in dry grass
🔥 Use caution with anything that may create sparks

One spark can become a wildfire.

🔥 FIRE FRIDAYS 🔥

Defensible Space
Creating defensible space around your home is one of the most important steps you can take to reduce wildfire risk.

Defensible space helps:
✔ Slow the spread of wildfire
✔ Reduce ember ignition near your home
✔ Improve firefighter access and safety
✔ Increase your home’s chance of surviving a wildfire

Know Your Zones:
🟢 Zone 0 (0–5 feet)
The first 5 feet around your home should be non-combustible.
Remove mulch, dry vegetation, wood piles, and anything that can ignite from embers.

🟩 Zone 1 (5–30 feet)
Keep it lean, clean, and green.
Trim vegetation, mow grass, and remove dead plants and debris.

🟧 Zone 2 (30–100 feet)
Reduce fuel and create spacing between trees and shrubs to slow fire spread.

🟥 Zone 3 (100+ feet)
Thin vegetation and reduce heavy fuels to decrease wildfire intensity.

Prepared homes help create safer communities.
