SCAM WARNING

We've taken reports recently that county residents are getting phone calls from someone posing as a Sheriff’s Office employee and saying that their child is in custody and needs help paying for an ankle monitor. The caller asks the person for money to resolve the issue. These calls are SCAMS. Our office will not call anyone to ask for money for anything. Don't give money or financial information to anyone who says they are calling from the Sheriff's Office. If someone calls you with a request like that, HANG UP!

Thank you to everyone who shared this information and the tips given to our department. We have identified the driver and vehicle involved. The driver is cooperating with the investigation. No further information will be released at this time due to the active and ongoing investigation.

Original Post:
The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating a hit and run crash with injuries that occurred overnight. We are looking to see if any residents may have camera footage or if anyone may have witnessed the crash to contact us. The crash occurred at the intersection of Minnesota St E and 12th Ave SE sometime between 11:35pm on Saturday, 9/5, to 12:15am on Sunday, 9/6. The suspect vehicle, which struck an individual on a scooter, was traveling southbound on 12th Ave SE and sustained front end damage and possibly a damaged windshield. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department at (320) 363-8250.

COLD CASE: HOMICIDE
MARY & SUSAN REKER
On Labor Day weekend 1974, Mary Reker (age 15) and her sister Susan Reker (age 12) left their family residence in the City of St. Cloud on foot enroute to Zayre Shopper City where they told their parents that they intended to do some school shopping. They never returned home and were subsequently reported missing.

Zayre Shopper City was located at 33rd Avenue and Division Street; part of the building is currently occupied by Save-A-Lot in the Plaza West Shopping Center.

On September 28, 1974, the bodies of Mary and Susan Reker were discovered in a quarry area west of Waite Park. Both died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Roseanna “Rose” Marie Forcum (age 15 years) was last seen at some point between August 12-14, 1998. She was accompanied by April Nicole Geyer (age 21). It is believed that they disappeared after attending a party in St. Paul, MN.

Cynthia Schmidt was last seen at Riverview Trailer Court in St. Cloud, MN on August 6, 1986. Cynthia disappeared with Ronnie Leo Bromenschenkel. Prior to their disappearance, both were involved in a money laundering scheme which may have been a factor in their disappearance. Investigators believe foul play is suspected. Neither have been seen or heard from since that time.

Information is wanted regarding Herbert Fromelt’s homicide on August 3, 1994. Mr. Fromelt (age 82) was found in his home having died from stab wounds. Law enforcement agencies and the family are requesting help in solving this homicide.

COLD CASE" HOMICIDE: LA'DARIAN D'VONTE BROADNAX

On July 20th, 2019, La’Darian D’Vonte Broadnax (age 24) was shot as he was driving a vehicle in the alley of the 300 block of 4th Avenue South in St Cloud, MN. It is believed this incident occurred as the result of a fight at a party nearby.
