The Cumberland Trail Firefighter's Association was awarded a grant of $787.50 through the JB Green Team. This grant, a result of collaborative efforts between the CTFFA, Belmont County Emergency Management Agency, and Belmont County CARES, facilitated the purchase of 75 blankets crafted from recycled materials. These blankets will be stored at the EMA for deployment to shelters to keep residents warm during cold weather or distributed by CARES to Belmont County residents in need.

This is a great asset for all fire departments in Belmont County. Enhancing the safety of firefighters and law enforcement personnel while saving departments money by having the ability to perform our own testing.

The Belmont County Board of Commissioners will pay All American Fire Equipment $11,462.78 for respirator fit testing equipment that will be used by all fire departments in the county as well as Belmont County Sheriff’s Office. Story link in comments.

In honor of Emergency Medical Services Week (EMS) Week, we held our appreciation dinner last night. EMS Week was originally observed in November of 1974 by President Gerald Ford to assist public safety agencies in improving their EMS while highlighting the need. This week we give thanks to the men and women of CTFD and the care they render to the residents of St. Clairsville, Richland Township and surrounding communities in their time of need.

During the dinner, three employees were also recognized individually as Paramedic of the Year, William Morgan, Firefighter of the Year, Silas Tracy and Officer of the Year, Alex Gazdik. These awards were voted on by their coworkers. Thanks to Ohio Billing, Inc. for providing gifts to the honorees.

Happy EMS Week to all of our fellow emergency medical personnel.

Bitter sweet day as today was Ethan’s last day participating in Skill Building for Transition at the firehouse through Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

2 Unit held a luncheon for Ethan and celebrated his time he got to spend with us. Special thanks to Katie Fischerkeller, Krysta Robey and Christa Biancarelli for providing a cake. Good luck Ethan with future endeavors!
