The past week was exceptionally busy and significant for numerous members of our organization, comprising six full days dedicated to teaching, mentoring, and creating lasting memories as we prepared the next generation of firefighters for success. Our organization was represented by 2 full-time firefighters and 5 part-time/volunteer firefighters who generously donated their time to instruct at the Sullivan Junior Fire Academy Class 19. The faculty consisted of instructors from diverse locations including Missouri, Illinois, New York, Arkansas, and Texas, who collectively brought over 1,050 years of experience to the classroom. We extend our gratitude to firefighters Trenton Myers, Nick Via, Jacob Dace, James Bruckerhoff, Sam Backhaus, Cody Carroll, and Nick Morgan for their contributions and representation of St. Clair Fire. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Did we also mention the instructors and students got to hangout and train alongside David Eigenberg also known as “Herrmann” from the hit show Chicago Fire.

We are pleased to congratulate and welcome our three newest full-time firefighters, Bailey Angell, Josiah Sikes, and Brad Whitworth, who were officially sworn in and pinned at our monthly board meeting tonight. We are very excited to have them join our team. Assignments include Firefighter Whitworth to A-shift, Firefighter Angell to B-shift, and Firefighter Sikes to C-shift. Welcome aboard Gentlemen! 👏

The Samel family was recently honored at the firehouse with a presentation of a shadow box crafted by C-crew, paying tribute to the legacy of Firefighter Danny Samel who passed away last year from cancer. Captain Cooley had the esteemed privilege of presenting them this memorial, for the many years Danny devoted to serving the St. Clair Fire Protection District. Thank you Mona, Daniel, and Kayla for coming by. You will always be welcomed here as family!

Today was an extraordinary day filled with excitement for Willow and Eli as they won a thrilling Ride with a Fireman Day through their school auction! B-shift crew gave them an unforgettable tour of the firehouse, showing the trucks and equipment, sprayed water from hand-lines, demonstrating specialized tools, and granting them a memorable ride in one of the pumpers! We're overjoyed they felt the same happiness that we did having them with us today. 😊
