Unfortunately, we are opting to cancel our native seed harvest that was planned for tomorrow, September 3rd, due to the heat advisory in place. It looks like tomorrow may be slightly cooler than today, but we do not want to push it.

We are planning on resuming the typically scheduled seed harvests next week on the morning of Thursday, September 10th. Until then, please stay safe and cool.

Join us this Thursday, September 3rd, for another volunteer seed harvest. We will meet at Corron Farm from 9-11am.

Feel free to bring your family and invite your friends! This is a fun event suitable for all ages. Anyone who is interested in learning more about nature and helping us as we work to restore our natural areas is welcome.

Dress for the weather / working outside:

Required
-Closed-toe shoes
-Long pants
-Water bottle (filled)

Recommended
-Hat
-Sunglasses
-Gardening or work gloves
-Sunscreen
-Small bag or f***y pack for your items

We will provide all required tools, instructions, snacks, and additional water

The Seed Team is Back!

Beginning Thursday, August 27, our Seed Team will be out in the parks from 9:00-11:00 a.m. collecting native seed to support future restoration projects and enhance local habitats.

Don’t let its tropical appearance fool you. Swamp rose mallow is a native Illinois wildflower! As a member of the hibiscus family, it thrives in wetland habitats and is a standout in our restoration areas. Have you spotted one during your park visits?
