to our last Crochet Club meeting of the school year!
The TMS Crochet Club hosted an Open House project showcase for families and friends. This event offered a wonderful chance for students to display the various projects they have been working on.

The club, which began as an idea from several seventh-grade students, is now in its second year and has expanded to include up to 50 members per meeting. It is open to middle schoolers of all skill levels, from those just starting out to those with advanced experience in crafting and crocheting.

Annie Leppin, a Reading Specialist at Thompson and one of the club's advisors, noted that the sense of community is what makes the group truly significant. The club benefits from former members who are now in high school returning to mentor younger students. Additionally, community members such as Mrs. Aliu, Ms. Maria, and "Grandma Kathy" attend regularly to provide the students with encouragement and support.

The club provides a welcoming environment where students engage in a variety of crafts. While many create crocheted items like sweaters, purses, blankets, and stuffed animals, others bring different projects just to enjoy the group's supportive atmosphere.

From the food trucks and DJ to the live student band, inflatables, and therapy ponies, there was something for everyone to enjoy!
