🚧 Annual County Resurfacing Program Scheduled to Begin June 1st 🚧

Construction for the Annual County Resurfacing Program is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, June 1st, weather permitting. Work hours will generally be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The resurfacing program is part of the Kane County Division of Transportation’s annual maintenance efforts to preserve and extend the life of County roadways. Construction activities will include milling and resurfacing, structure adjustments, curb and gutter replacement in select locations, and pavement marking installation.

During construction, temporary daily lane closures will be required, and flaggers will be present as needed to direct traffic safely through the work zones. The project is anticipated to take approximately six months to complete, weather permitting.

The following roadway segments are included in this year’s resurfacing program:

• Beith Road — North of the Thatcher/Beith bridge deck to IL Route 47
• Big Timber Road — IL Route 72 to approximately 1,700 feet northwest of Randall Road
• Hughes Road — IL Route 47 to Fabyan Parkway
• Randall Road — Approximately 260 feet north of Keslinger Road to IL Route 38
• Meredith Road — McNulty Road to I.C. Trail
• Main Street Road — Harter Road to approximately 750 feet west of IL Route 47
• Main Street — County Line Road to Root Lane
• LaFox Road — Bunker Road intersection to IL Route 64

Please note that the order listed above does not represent the sequence in which the roads will be resurfaced and is subject to change.

All listed roads will remain open during construction; however, motorists should expect temporary lane closures and delays, particularly during work hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time and consider alternate routes when traveling through work zones.

🚧 Keslinger Road Closure Scheduled for June 1st 🚧

Keslinger Road will be closed between La Fox Road and Harley Road beginning the week of June 1st, weather permitting, to facilitate construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Bunker Road and Keslinger Road.

The project includes full removal of the existing roadway and construction of a new concrete roundabout, storm sewer system, and roadway lighting. Due to the use of large, heavy equipment throughout the work zone, a full road closure will be required.

A posted detour route utilizing Peck Road, IL Route 38, IL Route 47, and Hughes Road will direct traffic safely around the construction zone.

Access to the train station from the north will be maintained during construction via the newly constructed Bunker Road connection at La Fox Road. Commuters traveling to the train station are encouraged to allow additional travel time during construction.

This work is anticipated to be completed by November 2026, weather permitting.

🚧 Kirk Road at Union Pacific Railroad Crossing (St. Charles, IL) Road Closures by Union Pacific Railroad 🚧

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will begin roadway closures at the Kirk Road railroad crossing located approximately 0.65 mile south of IL Route 64 (Main Street) in the City of St. Charles.

These road closures by the Union Pacific Railroad are necessary to allow the railroad crossing to be safely removed and replaced with pavement, improving the riding surface for motorists traveling through the area.

The road closures will be staged so that only one direction of Kirk Road will be closed at a time.

• Northbound Kirk Road lanes are scheduled to close beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, and are expected to reopen by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, weather permitting.

• Southbound Kirk Road lanes are scheduled to close beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, and are expected to reopen by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, weather permitting.

The posted detour route for both closures will utilize IL Route 38 (Roosevelt Road), IL Route 59, and IL Route 64 (Main Street) to direct traffic safely around the construction area (see attached map).

Motorists should be prepared to reduce speed, exercise caution, and obey all posted traffic control devices while traveling through the area.

🚧 Randall Road at IL Route 72 Lane Closures 🚧

Lane closures on Randall Road south of IL Route 72, near the Carrington Drive intersection, are scheduled to begin the week of April 27 and continue through approximately May 27, weather permitting. These closures are necessary to provide safe access for roadway widening construction activities.

The work will occur in stages. The outside northbound lane of Randall Road near Carrington Drive will be closed for approximately one week. Following this, southbound lane closures will be implemented, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction for an additional two to three weeks.

In addition, intermittent daytime lane closures may occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. During these times, flaggers may be present to help direct traffic safely through the work zone.

The overall project is expected to be completed by December 2026, weather permitting.
