Please be aware of rapid changes in weather as severe storms are expected to develop late tonight and overnight. Expect high winds and power outages with these storms. Know how to get emergency alerts and follow directions to seek shelter immediately. Expect power outages overnight and into the weekend as a result of damaging winds.

Do not rely on outdoor warning sirens, as your first line of defense.

Here is a link to receive Saginaw County 911 emergency notifications via phone. It only takes a minute to sign up: https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=saginaw911

If you do not have a cell phone to receive emergency notifications, you may want to purchase a NOAA weather radio. Amazon has them at $19.

Stay safe from downed wires and gas leaks. If you see a downed wire or suspect a gas leak, leave the area, call Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050. For all life-threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1.

On Saturday morning, we will be giving the Varsity Softball team a police es**rt out of town for their Regional Semifinal game. The bus leaves at 8:45 and will be traveling east on Walnut from the school to M52, then turn left to head north on M52 out of town. It’s early for a Saturday, but I’m sure they would appreciate the town's support if we lined the streets wishing them luck as they head out of town.

Today, we honor Memorial Day — a day set aside to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Originally established after the Civil War as “Decoration Day,” it became a national day of remembrance for all military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms we hold dear.

As we gather with family and friends, may we also pause to reflect on the courage, devotion, and selflessness of those who never made it home. Their sacrifice is woven into the very fabric of our nation, and their memory lives on through the liberties we enjoy every day.

To the families carrying the weight of loss, may you find comfort in knowing your loved ones are remembered with deep gratitude and honor. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

May we live in a way that reflects the value of their sacrifice — with kindness, unity, and appreciation for one another.

Parade at 10 a.m. in the boulevard. 🇺🇸
