⚠️ WEATHER ALERT ⚠️

Please be prepared for potentially dangerous weather conditions over the next two nights.

Forecasts are calling for periods of heavy rain, strong and damaging wind gusts, and the possibility of severe thunderstorms. Conditions may also become favorable for isolated tornado activity.

Residents are encouraged to:
✅ Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose items.
✅ Charge phones and essential devices.
✅ Stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and alerts.
✅ Have an emergency plan in place in case warnings are issued.

Do not ignore watches or warnings. Weather conditions can change rapidly, especially overnight when severe weather is harder to see and react to.

🚧 Sidewalk Improvement Project Coming to Downtown 🚧

We are excited to announce that new ADA-compliant sidewalks will be installed throughout downtown (52 to Clinton Street) to improve accessibility and safety for everyone.

Construction is expected to take approximately 2–3 weeks. During this time, there may be temporary disruptions in certain areas; however, all downtown businesses will remain open and accessible. Visitors are encouraged to use business main entrances whenever possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this project may cause and appreciate your patience as these important improvements are completed.

A special thank you to the DDA for helping make this project possible and for their contribution toward creating safer, more accessible, and updated sidewalks for our community.

We look forward to sharing a better downtown experience with everyone soon!

Today, we honor Memorial Day — a day set aside to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Originally established after the Civil War as “Decoration Day,” it became a national day of remembrance for all military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms we hold dear.

As we gather with family and friends, may we also pause to reflect on the courage, devotion, and selflessness of those who never made it home. Their sacrifice is woven into the very fabric of our nation, and their memory lives on through the liberties we enjoy every day.

To the families carrying the weight of loss, may you find comfort in knowing your loved ones are remembered with deep gratitude and honor. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

May we live in a way that reflects the value of their sacrifice — with kindness, unity, and appreciation for one another.

One year ago, our community faced the impact of an EF0 tornado that was 250 yards wide and stayed on the ground for 1.6 miles. While the damage left its mark, it also revealed something even stronger — the grit, compassion, and togetherness of our community.

Yesterday, with the help of the Tri-Township Fire District, we planted a tree to commemorate not only the storm, but the incredible people who came together afterward. Neighbors checked on neighbors, volunteers helped clear debris, and our community stood united through it all.

This tree will serve as a lasting reminder of resilience, service, and the strength we find in one another during difficult times.

Pictured are members of the Village DPW, Tri Township Fire Department, parks committee, and village officials who continue to serve and support our community every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped our community recover and grow stronger together. 🌳
