PRESS RELEASE ST. ANN PD

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 12:21 p.m., officers with the St. Ann Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Geraldine Ave. for a disturbance call involving two brothers residing together.

An argument began between the suspect, Lavell Westerfield, and the victim regarding the victim's missing AirPods. Westerfield contacted 911 requesting that his brother be removed from the residence. While officers were en route and dispatchers were gathering information, the argument escalated. Dispatchers then heard gunshots being fired during the call.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Westerfield shot his brother twice during the altercation. Westerfield stated that the victim had lunged toward him prior to the shooting. Investigators determined the victim was unarmed at the time of the incident.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Westerfield was taken into custody without incident.

The facts and circumstances were presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The following charges were issued:

Domestic Assault 1st Degree (F)
Armed Criminal Action (F)

Westerfield was issued a $250,000 cash only bond with no 10% provision allowed.

All criminal actions are alleged and all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚧 ROADWORK NOTICE 🚧

Today, temporary “No Parking” signs were installed on St. Katherine Ln. between Wright Ave. and St. Williams Ln. for scheduled street maintenance taking place tomorrow, May 28.

Reclamite which is a corrective asphalt material will be applied during the mid-morning hours. After application, sand will be spread to help the product cure faster and improve traction for vehicles. Once the roadway is cured and the sand is swept up, the roadway will reopen for parking ahead of the weekend.

⚠️ The roadway will remain OPEN to traffic.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during this maintenance process.
