NOW AVAILABLE: The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) online claim portal is now available. RECA applicants may now file claims electronically through the Department of Justice's Civil Division’s RECA Claim Portal: https://ow.ly/prEo50Y5I5n

If you or someone you know lived in North St. Louis County for at least two years starting in 1949 and later developed certain cancers, you may be eligible for compensation under the RECA Program.

RECA provides financial help for people who were exposed to radioactive waste and developed specific illnesses. That includes many families in North County who were impacted by nuclear waste from the Manhattan Project and Coldwater Creek.

💸 Appointments Now Open: FREE Senior Tax Preparation!

The Saint Louis County Department of Human Services County Older Resident Programs (CORP), in partnership with Gateway EITC Community Coalition (GECC) and IRS Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE), are offering FREE assistance with Federal & Missouri State simple tax returns and the Missouri Property Tax Credit (MO-PTC/Circuit Breaker).

✅ Who’s eligible?
• Saint Louis County resident
• Age 60+
• Individual or household income $69,000 or less (including Social Security)

🗂️ Bring with you:
• Photo ID & Social Security Card
• Tax documents
• A check (if you want your refund direct-deposited)

🏠 Missouri Property Tax Credit (MO-PTC):
Eligible seniors may qualify for a partial or full rebate on rent or real estate taxes paid. Income limits apply for single and married filers.

Don't forget! This is next week!

🗓️ Please join St. Louis County for a community town hall focused on Save Lives Now! and the County’s violence reduction efforts.

This initiative is working to reduce shootings and homicides by 20 percent over a three-year period through a coordinated, evidence-based approach.

Save Lives Now! brings together government leaders, law enforcement, service providers, street outreach professionals, behavioral health experts, and community and civic leaders to implement three proven anti-violence strategies that have successfully reduced homicides and shootings in cities such as Baltimore and Boston.

The town hall will provide an opportunity to learn more about these efforts and ask questions.
