Smoke Detectors and CO Alarms save lives!

Members of Lakewood visited one of our community members to install new smoke detectors and CO Alarms in their recently purchased house. This is one of the many services we offer residents in our area.

Did you know smoke detectors and CO alarms are silent guardians? πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ  They're on duty 24/7, ready to alert you to danger. Working smoke detectors cut the risk of dying in a fire IN HALF! πŸ”₯ And CO alarms? They protect against the silent killer, carbon monoxide. πŸ’¨

Check your detectors monthly, replace batteries yearly (or go for the 10-year sealed battery kind!), and replace the whole unit every 10 years. It's a small price for peace of mind and could save your life and the lives of your loved ones. ❀️

Do you live in the Lakewood Area and need detectors? Message us!

Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department hosted a mutual aid training with West Side Vol. Fire Department, West Side Vol Fire Dept #2 Sta 21, and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department members on Monday night. This training was on Search and Rescue, and Rapid Intervention Team or RIT for short.

Members broke up into teams and practiced searching a structure, locating a victim/firefighter, and removing them from the structure. Members also worked on communicating with each other from our home departments as well as mutual departments.

Thank you to our neighboring departments for attending as well as officers from each department helping with the training.

Moving day!

Today, Department members have been spending time preparing our "new" rescue for service.

This apparatus will have the capabilities to better serve our community and neighboring communities, equipped to help with Air Support, Technical Rescue, Auto Extrication, and large scale incidents. This truck originally came from German Valley, IL where it served their community for many years.

Stay tuned for more information on our newest addition to the Lakewood Family!

Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department donated a large amount of gear and some extrication equipment to our partners at WILD Institute, Inc. In Fayette County. It was an honor helping them and we hope it can provide more in depth training opportunities for all that participate.

πŸš’πŸ”₯We want to thank Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department for their generous donation of gear and extrication equipment! Thank you Chief Mike Childers, Firefighter Shawn Childers, Firefighter Jacob Brookes, Firefighter Austin Meredith, Firefighter Olivia Meredith, and your entire department. πŸ”₯πŸš’

We are so grateful to be part of such an amazing community! We thrive with the support of our partners and their encouragement enables us to accomplish our mission of providing quality trainings.

We are looking forward to using these old school auto extrication tools in some of our trainings to show the history of development in these tools. Comparing the weight and heft of these to the brand-new battery tools is really remarkable. And our thinking is if you can operate these kinds of tools, you can operate anything you are likely to encounter. And let's be honest, we still see some of these tools on our trucks.

We are all in this together! Thank you for the support!
