To everyone who registered for my State of the District Address, thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to our community.

Unfortunately, tonight’s program has been postponed. I was looking forward to sharing updates on this year’s legislative session, the work my office has been doing on behalf of Southeast Queens and the priorities that lie ahead for our district.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. This event is being postponed not canceled and my team and I will share a new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Thank you as well to our host, Eagle Academy for Young Men III, and the many community partners who helped prepare for this evening’s program.

Congratulations to the New York Knicks on an incredible championship season and bringing a title back to New York City. This historic achievement has energized fans across all five boroughs and we join countless New Yorkers in celebrating this moment.

Nonprofit organizations across New York City have an opportunity to receive funding to support their work in our communities.

To commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary, Resorts World New York City is awarding $250,000 in grant funding through its “Day of Giving” initiative. Twenty-five eligible nonprofit organizations will be selected through a random drawing to receive $10,000 each.

Applications are open now through June 29, 2026.

Organizations serving New York City are encouraged to apply and learn more about this opportunity.

DISTRICT 14 GRADUATE SPOTLIGHTS | CLASS OF 2026 🎓

This week, I am proud to recognize another group of exceptional graduates from Senate District 14 whose hard work, perseverance and dedication have led them to this important milestone.

Please join me in congratulating:

🎓 Dr. Shemeka Brathwaite, who earned her Doctorate in Community-Based Leadership from the College of Staten Island. A longtime Southeast Queens advocate, educator and professional speaker, Dr. Brathwaite’s research focuses on sustainable community leadership and advancing conversations around the experiences of Black women in leadership roles.

🎓 Taylor Hinds, a Laurelton native who earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Norfolk State University. In addition to her academic achievements, Taylor has received multiple awards for her singing and contributions to the Queens community.

🎓 Aaralyn Inniss, who will begin her next chapter at Queens College this fall.

🎓 Kamryn Ellison, a graduate of Townsend Harris High School.

🎓 Megan Marcano, a graduate of Queens High School of Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences.

These graduates represent the talent, determination and promise that continue to make Southeast Queens proud.

South Queens Women’s March is excited to announce our annual Caribbean Heritage and Pride Month Pantry will be held on Sunday, June 28 at 1pm sharp at our office located at 130-01 Liberty Avenue, Unit 1R, Queens, NY. We will be offering free groceries and produce, bread, period products, gender-based and domestic violence resources, voter resources, and more! Live music will be provided by DJ Keshan!
