Two Girls Pizzeria & Bistro: A Family Legacy, A New Chapter, and the Same Hometown Feel
Two Girls Pizzeria & Bistro has been part of the Sahuarita and Green Valley community since 2006, but for new owner Rachel Rheingold, this business has always been more than a restaurant. It’s where she grew up.
Rachel was just eight years old when her dad first opened the doors. Over the years, she did homework in the booths, spent time behind the counter, and watched firsthand what it takes to build a business from the ground up. To her family, Two Girls was never just about pizza. It was about creating a place where people felt at home, with fresh dough made daily, quality ingredients, and a dining room full of familiar faces.
After spending time in Colorado, Rachel returned home at 29 to step into ownership. For her, it has been a full-circle moment. “This isn’t just about taking over a business,” Rachel shared. “It’s about carrying on my dad’s legacy while continuing to serve the same community that’s been showing up for us since day one.”
As the second generation now leading the business, Rachel is not looking to reinvent Two Girls. Instead, her focus is on honoring what it has always been: a family-run restaurant built on quality, care, and a strong connection to the community.
Behind the scenes, that commitment shows up every day. The team prepares fresh ingredients before the doors open, from cutting lettuce and slicing vegetables to making dough and sauces in-house. Rachel says this hands-on approach is a big part of what makes their food different. “We choose to do it the right way every single day—no shortcuts, no compromises,” Rachel said.
Like many small businesses, Two Girls has also had to navigate rising food costs. Ingredients like lettuce, cheese, meats, and other supplies can change in price quickly, and those changes are felt immediately by small, family-run businesses. Even with those challenges, Rachel says the goal remains the same: continue serving fresh, quality food while keeping the heart of the business intact.
What makes this new chapter especially meaningful is the relationship Two Girls has built with the community over nearly 20 years. Rachel remembers growing up in the restaurant, and now she is serving some of the same customers who remember her as a high school student. “It’s not just customers,” Rachel shared. “It’s people who have been part of our story for years.”
That connection is what makes Two Girls more than a place to grab a meal. It’s a local business with history, family, and a lot of care behind it.
Today, Rachel and her husband are continuing that legacy with the same commitment her family started with back in 2006. Long days, busy rushes, and all, they continue to pour their heart into the business and the people they serve. “This isn’t just a job for us,” Rachel said. “It’s our life, our family’s legacy, and our way of giving back to a community that’s given so much to us over the years.”
As Rachel steps into this new chapter, the goal is simple: keep the quality, keep the heart, and keep that hometown pizzeria feel alive.
From all of us at Grow in Sahuarita, we’re proud to highlight Two Girls Pizzeria & Bistro and the family behind a business that has been serving this community for nearly two decades.
