Samaritas Community Center previously known as Neighborhood House in Saginaw to provide a safe haven for children in struggling urban Neighborhood. Samaritas offers educational and recreational activities for children and a hot dinner program for families. Centered on children

Samaritas is filled with the noise and laughter of children

every day. Some are painting colorful pictures, while others are playing basketball with friends or studying for a math test with their mentor. There are always a variety of educational and recreational activities to keep children busy after school and in the summer. Children’s Programs

Hot dinner program

Families who are having a difficult time making ends meet are welcome to join us every evening for a nutritious hot dinner. Mentors

At Samaritas, older teens and adults volunteer their time to be friends and mentors to the children. If you or someone you know would like to become a mentor, please call or visit for more information.

Remote Budgeting and Financial Literacy courses will be offered via Zoom on April 13th and April 17th. Please join us at the link provided to gain some helpful tips and tricks regarding stimulus checks, managing unemployment funds, and more! Your virtual attendance will also make you eligible for a gift card drawing.

Samaritas Community Center will continue serving meals to our community during the State of Emergency. The distribution schedule is as follows:

Adults and Youth: Pick up one meal per adult and one meal and snack per youth from 4-5p M-F.

Youth Bulk Meals: Bulk meals and snacks for anyone 18 and under will be distributed Mondays from 9-11a (for Monday-Wednesdays) and Thursdays from 9-11 (for Thursdays-Sundays). Youth do not need to be present to receive meals.

If you know you will be collecting meals during our bulk distribution times, please give the center a call or comment here the number of youth you will be collecting for so we can have an idea of what to prepare for. The phone number is (989)752-5805.

Please feel free to share this post with anyone you know who is in need of food assistance or to contact us with any other needs you or your family may have. We may not be able to address your need directly, but we may be able to put you in contact with someone who can.

We are excited to announce that the Summer Program schedule is complete. Below is the schedule for youth who enroll. To be eligible for the program, youth must be 6-14 years of age and have enrollment paperwork completed by a parent or guardian. Please stop into Samaritas Community Center anytime between now and the beginning of the program to enroll your youth.
