Here’s a scenario 👇

A donor gives a meaningful gift—but asks to stay anonymous.

Do you:
A) Share their story anyway (without a name)?
B) Keep everything private?

According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals: We protect donor confidentiality.

That includes:
✔ Their name
✔ Their giving
✔ Their preferences

Example: If a donor asks for privacy, we honor that fully, no exceptions.

💬 What would you do in this situation?

Let’s be honest for a second…

Have you ever been tempted to make numbers sound just a little better?

The Association of Fundraising Professionals reminds us: Transparency matters. Always.

That means:
✔ Accurate numbers
✔ Clear messaging
✔ Honest impact

Example: Serving 47 people is something to celebrate. We don’t need to say 50 to make it meaningful.

💬 What do you think?
Do small exaggerations hurt trust—or help tell the story?

We're excited to begin a new Ethics in Action series on social media highlighting ways to utilize fundraising ethics in your interactions with donors!

Let’s talk about donor trust 👇

If someone gives to a specific program, should those funds ever be used somewhere else?

According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics: We must honor donor intent.

That means if a gift is designated, it stays designated.
✔ Builds trust
✔ Strengthens relationships
✔ Encourages future giving

Example:
A donor gives for youth programming. Even if another need comes up, those funds stay with that program.

💬 What do you think?
How does your organization handle donor intent?
