πŸš’ Fire Hydrant Accessibility πŸš’

Public Works regularly maintains the City’s public fire hydrants to ensure they are in proper working condition for fire protection. This includes painting and replacing damaged or worn mechanical parts. Fire hydrant testing is completed by the Fire Department.

⚠️ Reminder for Property Owners, if a hydrant is located on or near your property, please help keep it accessible:

πŸ“ A minimum of 18 inches of clearance above ground.
β• 36 inches of clear space around the hydrant, 60 inches of clearance in front if the hydrant has a 2.5 inch or larger connection.
πŸƒ Landscaping, mulch, decorations, or turf encroaching on these areas must be removed.

🎨 Decorative painting of hydrants is not permitted, as hydrant colors follow NFPA standards for safety.

🚧 Safety Matters at Our Intersections 🚧

Did you know that keeping intersections clear helps protect drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists?

The Safety Harbor Land Development Code requires clear visibility triangles at intersections.

βœ… Keep sightlines open: No structures, signs, trees, shrubs, or landscaping that block views. No vegetation between 2–8 feet high in visibility areas.

🌱 Easement basics: Utility and drainage easements must stay clear and accessible. No elevation changes. Ground cover only in drainage easements. Plants in utility easements may not exceed 24 inches tall.

These rules help keep everyone safe on our streets.
