It’s time for ribs again! Sacred Heart will be there to try for another Veteran’s Choice (blind taste test) Championship, which we have won more than any other department. We have tickets available for $25 each.

Contact any SHFD member to get you a ticket today! Get yourself some great food and support the local fire departments! The more tickets we sell, the more money it raises for SHFD.

Two minutes — the time it takes to brush your teeth, load the dishwasher or tidy up your desk.

But could you and your loved ones get out of your home in that amount of time?

On average, that’s how long people have to escape during a fire, and that time begins when the fire starts.

That’s why it’s so important to have working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan — so you’re alerted as quickly as possible and you know exactly how to get out.

In the first four months of 2026, there have already been 35 confirmed fire deaths.

Last year, there were 61 fire deaths in total. Even one death is too many.

Make a plan, test your alarms and practice your escape plan.

It’s that time of year for wildland fires and prescribed burns to be a common sight. If your land needs a prescribed burn completed, please contact us. We would love to get that burn done for you safely, rather than you trying it on your own. The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can get it on our schedule.

If you are burning, please pay attention to the weather reports and the MN DNR for any possible burn restrictions or warnings.

We appreciate you contacting us to make us aware of your plan, and always call the Renville County Sheriff’s Office to activate your burn permit.

We truly appreciate all of your support! Approximately 925 people showed up in support of the Sacred Heart Fire Department!

Almost 1,000 pounds of smelt, 30+ gallons of homemade dips, 50+ Firefighters, kids, wives, retired Firefighters, and community members volunteering their time. That doesn’t even include all the beans, chips, coleslaw, bread, and drinks.

And…..ONE BALD HEAD! We didn’t quite sell out of smelt, but Captain Agre was a good sport and still let the SHFD kids shave his head. Thanks Mitch for making it a memorable night for them!
