Cal Cities, California Big City Mayors, California State Association of Counties, and Bring CA Home sent a coalition letter to the Legislature urging full restoration of HHAP funding to $1 billion. The program has helped place more than 100,000 people into housing since 2023. Now is not the time to walk back from this commitment and ask local governments to do more with less.

Founded in 1848 by Mexican miners during the Gold Rush and officially incorporated on May 1, 1851, Sonora has a rich history rooted in resilience, opportunity, and community. Once a booming hub during the Gold Rush, Sonora has grown into a vibrant city that continues to serve as one of the hearts of Tuolumne County.

As we reflect on our past, we also celebrate the people, places, and traditions that continue to shape Sonora today.
