Founded in 1898, the League of California Cities advocates to defend and expand local control in the Legislature, at the ballot box and in the courts and through strategic outreach to the public, policymakers and opinion leaders. In recent years, Cal Cities protected hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for cities and challenged legislative threats to local control.

Cal Cities was well represented at the United States Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting last week in Long Beach! ✨

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson served as the host city mayor and helped welcome mayors from across the country.

Cal Cities leadership was also recognized nationally. Board Members Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft and Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer received Mayor’s Climate Protection Awards for their cities’ leadership in sustainability and climate action. 🏆🌱

To close the conference, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria was elected President of the United States Conference of Mayors 🎉 Congratulations, Mayor Gloria! We look forward to continued collaboration on issues impacting cities across California and the nation. 🤝
