On May 14, 2026, Community Resource Project proudly joined fellow Community Action Agencies from across California for the 2026 CalCAPA Advocacy Day at the California State Capitol.
Together, we stood united to advocate for critical programs and legislation that protect and strengthen our communities - including the urgent call to preserve and expand LIHEAP funding and support essential State bills impacting low-income families across California.
A major focus of the day was advocating for continued investment in energy assistance and weatherization programs through LIHEAP, ensuring vulnerable households can access safe, affordable utilities and critical home services.
We also highlighted important legislation including SB 1240, SB 924, AB 1832, AB 2348, SB 881, and SB 1422 - all aimed at improving access to services, reducing poverty, supporting nonprofits, food security, healthcare access, and strengthening community systems.
We extend our sincere gratitude to California Community Action Partnership Association for organizing this impactful day and for their tireless leadership in advocating for California communities.
Thank you to the legislators, senators, and assemblymembers who joined today’s conversations and continue fighting for policies that uplift families and protect vital resources.
Community action works — and this day was a powerful reminder that when we come together, our voices create change.
