PG&E has begun implementing Public Safety Power Shutoffs ( ) in parts of Northern California due to elevated wildfire risk from dry offshore winds, low humidity, and hot weather conditions. Areas affected by PSPS outages through Thursday include portions of several member counties including Napa County, Solano County, Sonoma County, Colusa County, Glenn County, Lake County, Sutter County, Tehama County and Yolo County.

PG&E says the outages are intended to reduce the risk of wildfires caused by electrical equipment during this period of heightened fire danger.

In Case you Missed It: Sierra County Supervisor and RCRC Delegate Lee Adams and County of Santa Barbara Supervisor and RCRC Vice Chair Bob Nelson recently released an Op-Ed in the Sacramento Bee arguing against Senate Bill 1305, asserting that the reintroduction of grizzly bears into California is unsafe for residents and communities.

In the piece, they assert that California lacks the habitat and resources to manage another apex predator, especially as rural communities already face significant safety risks and conflicts with predators.

“To entertain the hypothetical reintroduction of a predator as formidable as the grizzly bear, while struggling to manage those already present, is irresponsible and a misuse of limited resources.”

In a Sacramento Bee Op-Ed, Sierra County Supervisor and RCRC Delegate Lee Adams and County of Santa Barbara Supervisor and RCRC Vice Chair Bob Nelson argue against Senate Bill 1305, asserting that the reintroduction of grizzly bears into California is unsafe for residents and communities. In the piece, they assert that California lacks the habitat and resources to manage another apex predator, especially as rural communities already face significant safety risks and conflicts with predators.
