As the heat picks up, so does the buildup of trash, pet waste, pesticides, and oil leaks on our streets. These pollutants can get picked up by irrigation or rain and washed into storm drains, which lead to our local creeks and rivers.

Protect our waterways this summer ☀️:

🗑 Dispose of trash properly
🐕Pick up pet waste
🐜Limit the use of pesticides
🚗Fix car leaks
🧹Keep storm drains clear of trash and debris

Billy Goat Gruff and hundreds of his friends are back — and so is their appetite! 🐐🌱

As part of the County’s flood prevention efforts, goats are utilized to clear overgrown grass and weeds from creeks and detention basins before the storm season 🌧. Their work helps keep water flowing and reduces street flooding in our communities.

This year, the goats will graze across 8 locations totaling 69 acres — that’s about 17 baseball fields!

It’s a win-win for all: the goats enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet while reducing flood risks for our neighborhoods. 👏👏👏

Heavy winds are on the way! 💨Please take a few minutes to pick up loose trash around your home and neighborhood. Trash left outside can pollute creeks and rivers and harm wildlife 🐟🦆. Let’s work together to keep our community clean and protect our environment.

As you enjoy the sunshine with your furry friends, please remember to pick up after your pet 🐾. Waste left behind can pollute our waterways. 💧

Play a role in your community’s safety! ⚠️
Join Sacramento County for upcoming 2026 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) meetings on April 22nd. Learn about local risks—like floods, drought, wildfires, and extreme weather—and share your input to help strengthen community resilience.
Your feedback plays a key role in reducing risks, improving preparedness, and shaping a safer future. The updated LHMP also provides access to important funding opportunities and can lower flood insurance costs through national programs.

All are welcome—no experience needed! 👥
Residents, businesses, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend. We will review risk assessment materials such as maps, data, and other information.
